Presentation

The CIRM is composed of 250+ members with 36 Principal Investigators (PI) and 76 PhD students, allocated in 14 research groups of the University of Liège. The research activities range from the discovery of new drug targets and the design or identification of lead compounds to their formulation and testing using all modern tools of evaluation.
All laboratories of CIRM are encouraged to contribute and participate to CIRM interdisciplinary research projects.
Four main research fields answering to actual pharmaceutical and clinical needs have been identified offering the opportunity to bring together the skills of CIRM entities.
Those challenging research fields are:
- Target and lead discovery;
- Analytical strategy and data treatment;
- Advanced drug delivery and therapy:
- Biomarker research and personalized medicine.

The CIRM expertise is organized into 3 thematics of expertise:
- "Drugs and therapeutic target discovery” thematics comprises the drugs synthesis, the natural compounds isolation, the molecular pharmacology, the in vitro and in vivo drug pharmacological/toxicity evaluation and the metabolomics.
- "Drug development and analytical” thematics gathers activities of quality control, drug formulation and bioanalysis.
- "Clinical" thematics focuses on clinical biochemistry, clinical toxicology, microbiology and clinical pharmacology.
Seven transversal technological hubs have been created as support for research to ensure the sharing of expertise and equipment.
