Administrative organization


The Executive bureau is elected by the Management board and is composed of 3 members: a Director, a Vice-Director and a Secretary. Its role is to manage the Research Unit on a daily basis and to make strategic propositions to the Management board. The executive bureau meets at least once a month.

Director : Pr Michel Frédérich

Michel Frédérich was graduated Pharmacist in 1996 at the University of Liège where he obtained his PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2000. In 2010 he became lecturer at the University of Liège and he is currently Professor in Pharmacognosy. Author of more than 150 international publications, his fields of research are Natural substances with antiplasmodial, antitumoral and anti-inflammatory properties, plant metabolomics and herbal medicines quality control.

Vice-Director : Dr Eric Ziemons

Eric Ziemons is currently Associate Professor in Pharmaceutical Analytical Chemistry at the University of Liège and Director of the Vibra-Santé Hub of the CIRM. He received his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Liège in 2006. His research interests span both on vibrational spectroscopy and hyperspectral imaging applied to the pharmaceutical and biomedical fields with a particular on multivariate data analysis and surface-enhanced Raman scattering for trace detection and quantitation in complex media. Eric Ziemons is the author of more than 90 peer reviewed articles.

Secretary : Dr Pierre Francotte

Pierre Francotte is currently Associate Professor in the Medicinal Chemistry Laboratory. He is a pharmacist by training, and obtained his PhD in Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Liège in 2008. His research interests include the design/synthesis of AMPA/KA positive allosteric modulators and the structure diversification/optimization of natural products using total synthesis approach.

 

The administrative gestion of the CIRM is ensured by Mrs Aurélie Laurent.

The management of the technological hubs of the CIRM is ensured by Mrs Pauline Desdemoustier.

Dr Pierre-Yves Sacré is Research Logistician of the CIRM attached to the technological hubs and in charge of the chemometrics Research Support Unit.

The other comitee of the CIRM are as follow:

  • The Management board is the official decision-making committee of the Research Unit. It is constituted by all members (with primary CIRM affiliation) of the academic staff and senior permanent researchers, elected scientific staff representatives and elected PATO staff representative. The Management board meets at least four times a year.
  • A Scientific advisory board is composed of recognized scientists external to the Research Unit. They are coming from universities but also from industries and provide advices on the research and the recruitment strategy. They comment the annual report of the Research Unit and conduct an evaluation of the Unit of least every five years.
  • The General assembly is constituted by all members for consultative and information purposes, with minimum one meeting per year.
  • The Young Scientists Committee is constituted of non-permanent researchers and their functions are as follow:
